aset, goddess of 10,000 names

aset, goddess of 10,000 names

Also known as Isis, Auset, Ese. Folks, Aset is kind of amazing. She spent time among her people teaching women how to grind corn, make bread, spin flax, weave cloth, and how to tame men enough to live amongst them (4 out of 5 ain’t bad). She also taught the skills of reading and agriculture. Pretty much, how to be both wise and capable. She was worshipped as the goddess of wisdom, magic, and medicine.

Here’s a story about Aset that might, ahem, speak to you like it did us? Ra, the God of the sun, held the greatest power in ancient Egypt. But Ra was uncaring, callous, and the people suffered greatly under his reign. By using a combination of her wisdom and magic, Aset took Ra’s power for her own and quickly became the most powerful of the Gods and Goddesses, using her great powers to benefit the people. Say it one more time for those in the back.
